why these were made and why the artist would like to part with them...
“I made these works during graduate school and a 5 month stint living in Hawaii directly after completing graduation requirements. I am willing to part with these works because they were the firsts of learning to sew on paper. These two fabric pieces were a break through for where I am now in my practice. The two water colors were paintings I did on one of my many beach trips on the island.
These works need to find a new home. A home where they are viewed on the regular and loved by many. Where this work was a beginning stage for where I am currently with my practice, I am able to part with them so that I can purchase new materials for what comes next.”
About the Artist:
My heritage, queer identity, and a mothers passed down materials are a driving force in my studio practice. My family tree is one centered around women sewing. My works playfully balance traditional Pennsylvania Dutch designs but often venture into a new space with bright monochromatic color themes.
