why these were made and why the artist would like to part with them...
Home Improvement #1: “During a home painting project I got excited at the hardware store and took a lot of paint chips. The excess chips leaked into my creative practice and I began making many sewn paint chip paintings - playing with geometry and color dynamic as I puzzle pieced the paint chips together.“
Home Improvement #2: “During a home painting project I got excited at the hardware store and took a lot of paint chips. The excess chips leaked into my creative practice and I began making many sewn paint chip paintings. This painting I made progressively over a year, adding to it bit by bit; in the processing learning about time and the value of minute progress.”
Circle Study #1: “I started this painting in March 2020, right as lockdown happened. With many projects canceled I enjoyed delving back into painting and form drawing using an old compass left-over from middle school. I often worked in the morning while listening to the news. The strict structure of the form, mixing of new colors, and attention to detail were all soothing to my pandemic anxieties.”
A Void: “A painting I made during 2020 to look at while doing zoom calls and I felt like I was falling into the void of my computer. Continued experiments in re-learning how to paint. Continued experiments in circle and color.”
