About the Tote Bag:
Summer is almost here and like you, I’m counting the days until I get to visit the beach!! I have many fond childhood memories of enjoying the beach with my family. I especially loved collecting sea shells with my Mom. I would kneel down in the sand to let the salty waves wash shells up to me, while Mom would be close behind holding a bag for my beach treasures. I would proudly show them to her and she would carefully place them into the bag. Those memories inspired me to create my own stylized tote bag for parents and children to carry and protect their seashells at the beach. On the front of the bag, I used acrylic paint to illustrate two sea otters swimming with their paws wrapped around a clam shell. The larger dark brown otter represents my Mom, while the small baby otter represents me when I was younger. I choose to paint sea otters because similar to people, they also collect shells. Another reason I chose to depict sea otters is due to the fact that my Mom and I both love otters and think they’re so cute when they snuggle together. Additionally, I painted a pun at the top that says, “Otterly Adorable!” On the back of the bag, I cut out red cloth and stitched it to the bag in the shape of a red starfish. The red starfish represents the love all parents and children share. So, if you’re into creating amazing memories by collecting sea shells with your parents or children then this bag is definitely for you!
