why these were made and why the artist would like to part with them...
I made a bunch of plates using only blue and white acrylic on porcelain, while working on my first solo show. I was thinking a lot about hands and production. And then I started on some prints of tools that are also about hands and production. There was no way they were gonna make it into that show, but I had no idea at the time. Sometimes you just gotta make a thing. I'm ready to part with them because I truly like them and want someone else to enjoy them. ”
Artist Statement:
I’m interested in the stuff that flows in and out of our lives through relationships, encounters and experiences. I'm always on alert for materials that others no longer want or find useful. Things percolate as I play and arrange, and I wait for connections to emerge. As hidden meanings are revealed and emotions surface, I seek a deeper understanding of who we are and the places we inhabit. If I had to distill it all, I'd say Memory. Mine and others. Known and not.
