why these were made and why the artist would like to part with them...

These pieces are part of my project "Rust Sun Bible Corn", made on a cross-country road trip and paired with faux historical markers that feature text culled from Wikipedia entries. The project reflects on how we communicate about our place in the world – in the humble acts depicted in the images and in the intangible yet permanent marks made on our virtual landscape, all of which insist, “I’m here, look at this, it’s important.

All projects that are lucky enough to be exhibited should also be lucky enough to find a home where someone appreciates them. I love these pieces from a solo exhibition from 6 years ago, and I hope that someone who loves precious roadside Americana will display them and field such questions from family and friends as "Why would you buy a picture of someone else's gravesite?" and "What's the deal with that fake horse?"

About the Artist:
Her work often investigates our constructed relationship to place and our methods of communicating within and about our physical surroundings. She is also particularly interested in the various dualities that characterize the photographic medium, including memory and aspiration, translation and description, art and snapshot.
