About the Artist:
Kyle Bauer (b. 1985, Salem, IL) moved to Baltimore after earning his MFA from Louisiana State University in 2011. In February 2020, Bauer joined the Paper Conservation Department at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. as a Museum Specialist in Matting/Framing. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Hamiltonian Gallery (DC), Loyola University Maryland, The Delaware Contemporary, and Flashpoint Gallery (DC). Notable group shows include "Pulse Art Fair" Miami Beach (FL), "Transitional Objects" Arlington Art Center (VA), “Exhibition 280” at Huntington Museum of Art (WV), “Change of State” at the Wassaic Project (NY), and “The Sondheim Artscape Prize Finalist Exhibition 2014” at The Walters Art Museum (MD). Bauer is a 2019 Denbo Fellow at Pyramid Atlantic (MD), a 2016 Hamiltonian Fellow (DC), a recipient of various grants and awards, most notably MSAC IAA 2015/2017 and an "Award of Excellence" in Exhibition 280 at HMOA (WV).
