About the Tote Bag:
The Dignity tote is a hand-embroidered tote bag that displays an elegant swooping orchid that brushes against your shoulder and reminds you to carry yourself with an air of grace. The bag is inspired by my mother, whose love for orchids created a windowsill of blooming color that returns year after year. My mother is the strongest woman I know, and she has always been a sign of perseverance and beauty, similar to the common symbolism associated with orchids in Chinese history. Therefore, the design of the bag is a dedication to her and a reminder to whoever carries it to stay strong and to keep pushing forward. Once you buy this bag, I hope you carry it every day, and let it experience the wear and tear of daily life. It is durable, and so are you.

About the Artist:
Year: Freshman
Major: Architectural Design
Hometown: Chinese/Vietnamese background, born in Virginia.

Plans for the Future: When I graduate, I want to develop plans for sustainable structures such as hotels and restaurants. In the future, I would love to grow gardens that give produce to local food banks and grow flowers for flower arrangements for hospitals and retirement homes.

A Little bit more about Lauren: Lauren's work is currently an exploration of expressing the human subconscious and storytelling through dry media. She loves exploration of new media and techniques, and is inspired by the interaction between humans and the environment around them. Her work is influenced by surrealist and realism artists, and commonly involves a hint of playfulness to make the unapproachable seem approachable.
