About the Artist:
Rachel Guardiola is an interdisciplinary artist and naturalist with a studio practice focused on analog and digital lens based technology. Her work explores the human relationship to wilderness through the construction of other earths, mythologies inspired by periods of solitary navigation through extreme landscapes. She utilizes photography, film, video, sound, alternative processes, performance, and installation to reimagine topographies free of human presence. Science fiction and the fantastic are utilized as modes to discuss environmental realities. The works playfully teeter between fact and fiction to become terrains of the uncanny.
