Washington, D.C.: but, also is pleased to present Multiples: A Holiday Pop-Up Sale featuring thirty artists mostly, but not entirely, hailing from the Washington, D.C. area. Artists’ multiples are identical art objects made in series and the artists in Multiples are coming in hot with a variety of products that relate to their larger artistic practices in a meaningful way: napkins, textile prints, coasters, cups, bags, stickers, key chains, and more. Multiples will be on view and on sale from November 6 - December 18, 2021 at but, also’s temporary space at 3015b Georgia Ave NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 and online at but-also.com until January 31st, 2022. The sale will kick-off with an opening reception on November 6, 2021 from 3-7pm (masks and vaccination cards required). but, also will be adhering to Washington, DC’s Covid-19 protocol with regularly scheduled open hours as well as private appointments.
For Multiples, the but, also space will be transformed yet again, this time as an eclectic holiday shop. Representative objects from each artists’ multiples will be curated into a display that leads the viewer and buyer through a journey of unique art objects, functional houseware, travel sized trinkets, and who knows, maybe what your Mom wants for your holiday celebration. Multiples centers but, also’s mission to bring people into artist’s practices through the marketing and sales of artist-made products, all as a way for artists to find more ways to sustain themselves and their primary art practices. In edition (pun!), and in keeping with the theme of artist-made multiples, the Daly & Delafkaran Nice Try pottery editions will also be available for sale. If you feel the need to become a part of the ecosystem of holiday giving, don’t support large corporations this year, buy local, and support the arts, and by doing so introduce your loved ones to some contemporary working artists.
Multiples: A Holiday Pop-Up Sale marks our sixth project since our opening in February of 2021 and will be the last project at our brick and mortar space on Georgia Ave. But, fear not, wipe those tears off your beautiful art-supporting cheeks, we have some really exciting projects lined up for next year! but, also is only gaining momentum, and with your support and the incredible participation of ONE HUNDRED AND NINE artists this year, we will continue onward and upward.
